I might be interested as well, I need to find a good swivel pin and lower yoke for my 2.5 200 XRI
BPS Swerve glide bait has some decent reviews and is around $20. I’ve had luck with it but I am not what I would consider a swimbait expert.
I wish I could remember where I saw an article/posting of someone who was having a similar issue. He did not want to have to drill a new hole in his live well and they try to cover the old hole for...
You would have to plug the overflow or relocate it to a higher position. The pump you already have doesn’t control the fill level, the overflow does.
That looks awesome! Have any pictures of it with the lid open to see what the inside of compartment looks like? I’ve been thinking about doing something similar on my boat but was unsure how to make...
Ok JOE here’s my next issue. Finally got a chance to run it wide open. 58mph, at 5,200 rpm. 25p Tempest, prop slip 12% (according to Mercury calculator). Engine ran fine right up until 5,200 didn’t...
Forgot to add, it was tournament load, full tank of fuel, one livewell was full and just me in the boat (150lbs)
75 degree water, slight chop today mine only ran 58mph at 5,200 rpm’s.
Thanks for that info, I’ll do some digging in the archives and keep an eye out for a 4 blade prop like you mentioned.
The nylon by pass valves threw me for a loop, bc of how flimsy they seemed compared to the rubber ones I’m used to in the kits. But after going back and reading your post it reassured me it was fine....
So not filter at all or just not a spin on filter like I have currently? My previous boat didn’t have one in the bilge either, it was a 90’s Merc 100 2+2 engine. It only had a small in line filter...
It is a Quicksilver water separator filter, it was installed by a previous owner. The guy I got it from had a local marine place replace both filters and install a new impeller kit a couple of months...
3” seems to be the right spot for me also. I went up to 2.75” but it didn’t seem to allow me to trim properly so I went to 3”. I ended up needing to lync n sync so that all 4 butterflies opened fully...
The fuel lines from tank to the quick connect on cowling had been replaced along with the filter in bilge area and the spin on filter under the cowl. Or so I thought…..I did have a fuel fume smell in...
I adjusted everything so that the butterflies are fully open at WOT, checked VST tank for debris (turned out it was spotless), checked and cleaned the final fuel filter inside the housing just above...
Motor runs much better! I can trim all the way down and it jumps right on plane. Idle is better for the most part also…..sometimes it will idle so smooth you can barely tell it’s running and it will...
My plan is to send off ECU to hopefully get it verified that it was set for a 200. I also plan to send off injectors to have them cleaned and checked to make sure they are flowing like they should...
I will bypass that valve the way you described and give it a test run. Hoping to get to the lake sometime this week to do so test runs and see if the problem is fixed. Thanks for the advice!
1995 Viper 188DC with a Mercury 200 XRI. I have not owned the boat very long.

I also noticed this part appears to be missing a clip to attach the lever piece to the valve/actuator. Could this be part of my problem or creating a problem of it’s own?

Did some measuring and p2p was at 4.25”, moved it to 3”. My Tempest also on had a single large hole plug in it, so I picked up more large hole plugs and a pack of solid plugs I can modify if needed....
I did some measuring, double checking I had a level surface to measure off of. It was 4.25”, raised motor to 3.25” but have not had time to test it out. I’m starting to wonder if I lost a plug out of...
95 Viper 188dc with a 93 Mercury 200 XRI (I also posted engine questions in the 2.5 Merc section), 8” Jack plate, running a 25P Tempest Plus. I am having trouble getting on plane, the only way it...
It ran good when I bought it last fall, through the winter and early spring. It started doing it in May have only had the boat out a few times since then. Only way to get it on pad is to do the trim...
