This time of year, I will put a box fan blowing into that “open” compartment. For my single bank Ionic charger, I set it on a jalapeño rack, kinda like a heat sink.

I’ve gotten into the habit of checking that pin before each trip. Usually, a tap or two to reseat it. Shouldn’t be a need to replace the pin, just line it up and thump it back in .
