Yes, I’ve started making it a habit to pump the bulb every time I start it now, and if anything, it seems like it starts worse. On a side note, I have the new spark plugs here, should I go ahead and...
Thanks for the heads up, I wouldn’t have even thought about that, on second thought, maybe I’ll just let it ride and hope it’s done rubbing for good.
Quick update…. I installed a new water pump, old impeller looked brand new, got out to fish this afternoon and although I only ran the motor MAYBE an hour, no overheat alarm! Hopefully it stays this...
I was able to remove the lower cowling and oil tank bolts and get the old seal reseated and it looks like the throttle body contact is gone! Reseating the seal brought the tank forward enough it was...
Thank you!! Working on getting the parts ordered, tonight I’m going to attempt to reseat it on the old seal and atleast get the tank to stop making contact.
Anyone want to chime in? I’ve finally gotten around to installing a new water pump, I’d really like to get the oil tank rubbing figured out before I hit the lake this week for some testing, I’m...
From what I’ve read, as long as I don’t remove any of the hoses from the tank, I shouldn’t need an oil pump prime for reseating the grommet, is this correct?
Absolutely!! People like Don make it hard to imagine owning anything but a Merc. Thanks again for all the help, I’ll report back hopefully later this week after I get the new pump on. Fingers crossed...
Waiting for a chance to install the new water pump, hopefully sometime this weekend maybe… why is it that you suggest also having a spare t stat and poppit? Are these commonly damaged during removal?...
Do you happen to also have a part number for the clamp? Anything else I’m missing for this?
So the solution would be to pull the tank, replace gasket and clamp, and then hopefully I’ll be able to carefully put it back on without any contact? Will it require an oil pump prime following...
So after further investigation, it looks like the throttle body bolt is seriously rubbing the tank as can be seen in the first picture, to the point I’m concerned it’s going to rub through. It also...
Update 2: Before hitting the lake this morning, I tried to remove the cover for the t stat and poppit valve, I removed all 4 bolts but the cover is seriously stuck on, it looks like it has been...
Update: ran the hose for about 20 minutes or so, occasionally the buzzing sound would stop, gurgle a little like water is moving through the block, and then continue buzzing. If I held my finger over...
Don, I cleaned the strainer tonight and I hate to say it was spotless, as in, not a single thing on it… I tried to backflush, and as soon as I turned the water on the engine started to make a loud...
Just read through the instructions for compressor lubrication and I’m a little confused. Is this procedure to be done with the spark plugs removed, or is simply disconnecting them enough? Also I’m...
10-4,I’m guessing if there’s no trim balls then there’s no sockets either? Are there zerks under the cowling that need grease or is it basically external components like trim and steering? On the...
You may be on to something…currently, the current cap only has about 5” of dipstick on it, I’ve heard of people just cutting it out but I think this one probably broke off, because if someone was...
Great idea, I’m starting to build the courage to drill the first hole…I think it has a lot of potential to work out really well, but also the potential to be a seriously big mistake:/
So thinking on it I’ve never done anything to my knowledge to have unseated the seal, must have been a previous owner or maybe from the factory like that? Would it be possible that this is evidence...
I’m assuming the dust is coming from the belt then? That’s what was initially concerning, good to know it’s nothing to worry about. I will have some time tomorrow to clean the strainer out, lol...
Is it easy enough to reseat without completely tearing into it? Assuming there’s not an additional issue that needs solved with the throttle body bolt chaffing the tank, is it just a matter of...
Trying to condense all my issues into one post so please forgive me if it’s wordy- My motor is a 2010 Opti 75 Sn 1B791154 with maybe 200 hours on it. I bought the boat used in 2020, and at the time...
Thanks! Does it look like it’s not properly seated on the bottom in the pics? I can’t tell if it’s leaking because it’s old and starting to crack, or if it’s just pinched up. Should I be concerned...
Any idea what a that would cost to have a hole plugged by a welder? I know it doesn’t sound cheap being aluminum and a funky patch…
also someone please feel free to chime in and tell me if this is...
