I doubt that you will see any problem(s). Only you will know for sure if you give it a go.

But so do modern alternators. Have stators that is. A core component of an alternator.
I am not aware of any alternator that does not have a stator.
I suspect when you use the term "stator...
They can. Most don't. Some do.
Does this sound like what you are experiencing?
"Some boat applications may have gauges or accessories that activate with the ignition in the “OFF” position when operating the Power Trim and Tilt...
It is a good thing that the approval by Mercury is not necessary.
What motors that can be connected to a battery don't have an alternator?
Is it reasonable to assume that given the passage of time and use, a battery will naturally degrade over time.
That is, its ability to meet an X load requirement, provide Y ampere hours and Z...
He says the motor has a rope to start it. I am guessing that the motor can be rope started without the battery being involved. Perhaps once the motor is running the alternator output will wake up his...
What is the voltage on the battery with the charger leads connected with the charger being on?
Why not?
Thanks
I am not familiar with the term "unlock the BMS". Can you explain please?

Interesting.
Early VF200/VF225/VF250's did. Require 220 minutes RC min.
Later ones did not. Only required 160 minutes RC.
Go figure.
Drive shaft may be stuck in the crank shaft.
Reinstall two of the side bolts leaving them loose about a quarter inch. Start and run the motor on flush muffs. Hopefully heat, vibration and gravity...
Mercury (like Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki) want what will result in the least amount of problems for the company.
Disconnect the sender lead to the trim gauge at the dash and then connect the two pink sender leads on the motor together.

Here is just one of the several VMAX models that were available in 2001.

What kind of a VMAX? Is the model of the motor unknown?
How about taking a look at the ring locating pin and letting us (me) know if it is located in a position where, were it to come loose and go outward, it could snag an intake or an exhaust port.
Good point.
Are you the guy that has a device that will apply a load to a battery that will maintain a constant current even though the voltage drops as the SOC drops?
Do you have any plans to let the alternator charge the battery?
Can you document the charging of the battery now that you have documented the discharge?
