Still waiting on a couple people to get back to me on if they can do a light bore so decided to keep going. Looking better and better but a bore sure would be nice!
Well did what I could. Still a tiny bit more to go. Measurements still under the 3.55 wear limit which I guess is a plus. Got about 4 thousandths before it hits the wear limit going off the manual....
Manual states standard bore size good to 3.544" and wear limit is 3.55". If I stay within the wear limit, do you use the standard size piston and rings? Or slightly oversized? Think the options are...
Here are some pictures. Still confused but piston doesn't look good. Tried cleaning up the cylinder walls. All the caked on metal is almost off, just worried about the ports and the edges. Starting...
I'll look for it. Got the motor off last night after work. Going to pull it apart tonight and see what I got going on
I will check it but it's ran really good for over a year. Now that I think about it, this piston was the one I replaced year or two ago and I got it from boats.net. Not sure if that makes a...
Unless something has moved, this engine has run strong for awhile. But I'll end up double checking everything once I start fixing it
The other cylinders are fine. It's just this one. I don't have a water pressure gauge which I was going to install since this happened. Put on a jack plate and had motor at 3.5" p2p so no clue if...
So piston is toast in #4. I've replace one piston and all rings when I got the boat. Honed cylinders before putting everything back together. At this point can I just replace the one cylinder and...
Awesome. That's what I had in mind. Thanks
My motor did not come with a water pressure gauge on my 2000 Ranger R81. I put a jack plate on it and want to see the water pressure. Have the gauge but want to make sure I install the lone...
Appreciate that. I tried a 25 but is too big. Will look for a 23

Old gear case from my 97 Pro V 150 was a 14 tooth pinion and 28 tooth forward and reverse gear. So 2:0 gear ratio correct? All thise gears are toast. Have a 2004 I believe f series gear case off a...
Ya, once I get my lower unit back, going to have my prop worked on a little and then maybe try a 24p tempest or see if I can find a 23p Fury 4 blade. Seen the 4 blade may be another good option as...
Nevermind. I found my answer. Won't work as the lower is from a 2004..
I have an SEI lower unit that is currently be looked at under warranty. I have the original lower unit that broke down and was looking to eventually rebuild. A buddy of mine gave me an old lower unit...
I played with the height of the motor. Called the local prop shop and they said sounded like maybe it needs more cup put into it. So going to do that. Tried a Tempest 25 because that's all I could...
Hello, I have a 2000 Ranger R81 VS with a 97 Yamaha Pro V 150hp on a 8" rapid jack plate with a 23p Fury 3 blade. Full load with 2 people and prop to pad from 3.5" to 4" noticing only getting around...
Mine looks like that as well. 97 Pro V 150
