Has anyone experienced issues ordering a reel from Japan? The seller ships international and has good ratings. I've never bought from an international Ebay seller.

I have made purchases from asian portal though ebay. no problems
I have not bought any reels from Japan, but have bought tackle. Never had a problem.
No issues, bought many.
Bought a few with NO problems. Pretty fast shipping too. Pay with a credit card that protects YOU.

Bought a few reels from Japan with no issues.
I have purchased many Shimano reels from Japan on EBay. I received all of them within 3-4 days every time and every reel has been a great reel. Would do it again. Back when shipping/Covid problems I was getting my reels quicker then if I ordered from Tackle Warehouse
I ordered one accidentally from Japan once. It arrived very quickly. However, I would not buy intentionally from there because I do not want to risk dealing with customs if it gets flagged as I am not sure how all that works.
It has been a while, but I have ordered several reels over time from Japan without any issues.
Zero issues and solid prices
bought many, many, many reels from Japan, and the shipping is always faster than anywhere in the US. Zero issues with the reels
Good prices and have never had an issue.
I’ve found that the service from most sellers in Japan is exceptional.
Fast shipping, products exactly as described. Even hand-written notes of appreciation, recognition of returning customers, and the offer of discounts occasionally.
Be careful, it’s a slippery slope for the average tackle hoarder.
Any sites any of you would recommend looking at?
Digitaka, Japan Lure shop and Asian Portal are all great. Digitaka usually has best prices
I have and will continue to buy from Japanese vendors. Ebay or through their own websites.
I bought a couple of scorpion 1500XTs a few years back for cheap with a favorable USD to Yen exchange rate. The exchange rate is even more favorable right now, but that reel is no longer made.
With that said, I would rather buy through a company's site than Ebay. Ebay has some weird payment and shipping policies that sometimes can cause issues.
And if I remember right. If you order from Digitaka reels and rods are free shipping and if you have some smaller items bought at the same time they will ship them for free also as long as the single package does not go over a certian weight.
Ordered a reel once from Japantackle.com on a Thursday night; had it on my doorstep Monday morning by 8:30 The USA version of that reel was more expensive and a longer shipping time from TW.
