    Information on this old boat

    Howdy y'all,

Been a long while since I've been on , due to double pneumonia then massive heart attack and then April of last year our house burned to the ground due to the breaker box.
Anyway at the new place I have this old all aluminum dura craft

Looking for an approximate year and maybe value of it if I clean it up and at least see if the power head will turn over. Not sure if I want to keep it and fix it up to ride in or sell it to somebody who would want it.

That Mercury looks like very early sixties. It would have more value as an antique than anything else. First thing is to see if the motor is frozen or if it will turn over. I am sure you would have to rebuild the carburetor and most likely change out the condenser and points.

Probably take allot of work to get it fully restored. Once done it will be awesome, but I imagine it better be a labor of love. If your heart isn’t in, bet someone will buy it as is.

I'm guessing it's an early to mid 60's. It looks like one that I took my first boat ride in when I was 6 years old.

Grandfather was given a similar boat in Orlando 1966 and I believe it was a 1961 model - the motor looked identical. Was a fast boat for its time.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm gonna start cleaning it up later today after I dump more leaves and pine straw on my garden spot and turn it in. Might post another picture after it's clean.

I see an opportunity for you to become the Bob Vila of boat restoration-at least on YouTube. "This Old Boat" has a nice ring to it.

First thing I would do dig out the lower unit and make sure it isn`t cracked or full of water the way it is buried in the dirt.

One of the most expensive things out there is a free boat.

Look at the whole wire harness all the wires around the engine see if the insulation just crumbles off or cracks old engine harnesses tend to deteriorate

Clean it up, Knock a few holes in the bottom, add some rocks and soil and plant tomatoes in it. Cool Garden planter.

I'd contact Bass Cat Boats here and see if Rick can tell you the info on the boat. He has forgotten more about the boats built in AR than most of us will ever know.

Restore and keep it all original. Classic boat shows are fun.
