Linking units together using nema or ethernet

Ok here is what I got 2-12 lives, I bought a carbon 9 for stacking it above the 12 bow for mapping/ 2D.
so that being said now before I had 2 Ethernet ports (bow ) taking up with the console 12 bow with AT1 module to bow 12 unit.
will this work cable the Ethernet from AT1 to the 12 bow keep it the same .
Plug cable from the 9 inch to the 12 bow.
plug the other Ethernet cable from the console to the 9 inch.
Basically for linking them together and using another Ethernet cable between the 9 and 12 bow units
and taking one cable from console unit
    hope this makes sense
    TIA
Or use the nema cables link them together
is nema for engine use only ?

Must use ethernet, but by jumping from unit the unit (series wiring), the first unit must be ON to pass ethernet to the second unit downstream.........and so on and so on

NMEA is for sharing data such as temp, GPS position, heading, waypoints, or depth. Ethernet is for sharing sonar images, StructureScan, waypoint sync (way better than share), etc

If you want this to work correctly without hassle then you need to install both Ethernet and NMea. I would suggest for the Ethernet insall a NEP box which has 5 ports then all your cables fro ea source go to the box and the processor in the box will manage the traffic more efficently than the processor in ea unit. Managing upgrads or unit changes becomes a simple process with the box versus rerunning cables everytime you make a change. Your ghost requires NMEA and you AT requires Ethernet so there is no getting out of one for the other.

Ethernet synchronizes waypoints between the units in the network. Yes, with ethernet waypoints will show up on all networked units automatically.

If all you have are the units and AT, ethernet is the only network you need. If you add devices like a Point-1, enginedata or a Ghost, you want NMEA2000 between all units as well.
