Hey guys, I recently purchased a 2000 TR 21 and now I am having issues with the rod locker smelling like gas when the locker has been closed for a day or two. I have researched and contacted several boat mechanics and the replies that I get are either it’s is fumes from the tank and that is normal or there is an issue bc you should never smell gas. Anyone that has experienced this issue and could give me advice on how to fix it would be much appreciated. It’s driving me crazy
my stratos (2000) always did that if lids were closed for awhile. vapor seems through the tank I believe as I never had any liquid leaks i just left rear lid up a little and it was never an issue your tank is behind the seats likely open rear hatch up and see how it does. might check for newer type fuel hoses also. alcohol eats older hoses up. my stratos had the updated hoses also with the smells

My 02 TR21 does the same thing and to combat that I turn the latch on the battery compartment to leave it cracked between uses. It took care of the gas smell.
Pretty common on boats with poly tanks & bented gas caps. Keep rod locker & bilge lids cracked open ….. consider replacing the vented gas cap… if it was a tank leak you’d know even when lids were open.
