My closest Rural King is 1 1/2 hours away but will have a look at those the next time I go there. Thanks for sharing. Any warranty on those?

If this year is like the last few, Sam’s club should have their one day sale of $20 of marine batteries within the next few weeks. I am replacing both my TM batteries and will be grabbing two group 31’s.

I think it's this week. It was in the latest flyer. That would make the group 31 AGM's about 220.00 each.

I saw that too but I thought the ad said automotive batteries? I will check to make sure though. Also it’s advertised for this weekend as a “door buster”.

Just checked my local Sam’s and confirmed that the sale is for automotive batteries only. Marine or deep cycle batteries are not included. The wait continues…

Sam's Duracell AGM. Cheaper I'd agree with the Everstart or Deka.

Is there a big difference between the 29 and 31 in terms of run time, and capacity, etc?

No they are basically the same, some brands have a group 29 and some have a group 31.

12 month warranty and my closest RK is 3 hours and 3 states away, LOL. But I travel there a couple of times per year to see old friends.

LiTime 100AH battery in the puddle jumper (Pond Prowler 10) has made it seem like a different boat because it lost over 50 lbs in the rear end! When the three 70 lb AGM's in the Ranger give up the ghost it will be over 150 lb weight loss.

Johnson Controls hasn't made batteries in 4-5 years. Clarios makes the Everstart, Duralast, and Diehard batteries.

The falling prices on 12v 100ah lithium batteries makes them a head to head competitor to "inexpensive" wet-cell or AGMs. Especially on a smaller boat (like the OP's 16 footer), the weight savings would be dramatic. Think of all the extra [tackle, gas, beer, whatever] you could carry instead! lol

Seriously, handling a lithium vs. lead-acid battery alone is a huge selling point IMO. Lifting a 60 - 80lb. battery up and over a gunnel into a storage compartment when on the trailer is a Herculean (and dangerous) effort - same with removing them. Worse if you have 2 - 4 of them! Those that need to remove batteries for winter storage, and re-install them each spring can attest to this struggle.
