    Line For Swim Jigs

What line does everyone use for throwing swim jigs? I throw them in grass (water willow) and it has a thick deep root system. I currently use 50 lb. braid. Also, once the jig comes through the grass does the braided line scare away the fish? Thinking about using floro but not sure it would hold up the grass root system.

    Thanks!

Around grass I would also use 50lb braid. If I'm throwing a swim jig around docks or somewhere without grass then I'll use 20lb fluoro. I don't think the braid makes much of a difference around grass, it just looks like another strand of a plant.

In grass or lily pads, I throw 65 pound braid on my swim jigs. Doesn’t seem to affect the bite at all.

In your situation braid is probably best. And I hate braid mind you.

I use 30lb braid to a 15lb leader. Where I fish rarely has thick enough cover so that set up is more than sufficient

30 or 40 pound braid for me. You need the braid when fishing around vegetation that's rooted to the bottom. I've personally never felt the need to bump up to 50 or 65 pound braid, but even at those higher pound tests, I doubt the fish care unless you're fishing in ultra-clear water.

I would use 30lb braid. I have never felt the need to go above that. Could be different in your area compared to mine but I always use 30lb braid for swim jigs.

It doesn't scare them, I've thrown swim jigs and chatterbaits on 50lb braid for years.
