Book Readers Step In - Book Recommendation for a Non-Reader

I really don’t like to read much at all and have read very few books cover to cover. No particular interest in reading material other than not into Sci-Fi. Below some I’ve liked and some I’ve put down before done. Most suggested on other BBC book threads.

    Not Finished/Put Down
    Italy’s Sorrow by James Holland
How to be a Man by Duff McKagan – made it thru most of it

    Liked but not in Order
With the Old Breed by Eugene Sledge
What Happens When I Die by Bill Wiese
Hillbilly Elegy by J. D. Vance
Beyond Deaths Door by Maurice Rawlings
    Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand

I know, all over the board - Suggestions? Thanks
If professionals who's careers depend on catching fish use FFS then that's what I'm using. Might be too simple of a philosophy but makes sense to me.

A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving was one of the best books I ever read.

Someone recommended a book about divers in New Jersey, I think it was on here last year. I think it was Shadow Divers but I do not remember for sure. But it was fantastic.

Anything by Patrick McManus… all hilarious.

Lonesome Dove (or any of the related novels) by Larry McMurtry.

Anything by Tom Clancy (he wrote The Hunt for Red October).

A great fiction series is those written by C.J. Box. Stories are about a Wyoming Game Warden and the crimes he investigates- most of which aren't about wildlife per se, but out there, apparently any law enforcement agent is called in to help with crimes. I'm on book #13 of the set, so be warned-they are addicting.

Yes it was me. Fantastic book and there is a second one that is almost as good. It’s called Pirate Hunters.

The volunteer. It's about the Holocaust.
Another recommendation for shadow divers. He was one of the divers on Oak Island.

If you like WWII books, Citizen Soldiers by Ambrose is excellent. All his books are good but this one is exceptional.

    1. The "Saxon Tales" series by Bernard Cornwell. The first one (title "The Last Kingdom") is gripping!
    2. Anything written by James Patterson
    3. "A Man in Full" by Tom Wolfe (also wrote "The Right Stuff")
    4. Anything written by John Grisham
    5. ...the title you were searching for in an earlier reply was "Shadow Divers" by Robert Kurson - VERY good book!
    6. "The Power of the Dog" by Don Winslow
    7. "Midnight in Chernobyl" by Adam Higginbotham
    8. "One Second After," and "One Year After" by William Forstchen
    9. "Under the Dome" by Stephen King
    10. "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follet

Get this one "Educated". It's good. I wouldn't have thought I would like it. I passed it around to my friends. All really liked it.

Also check out Thriftbooks.com. I get most from there. Used but real cheap.

This, picked up one randomly at Sams Club a few months ago. I now have the whole series (got them from Amazon). Once I started, I found myself wanting to know what happened next.

    Both are excellent recommendations.
I recently read 2034 by Admiral James Stavritas who was a SEAL and Supreme Allied Commander. It's about rising tensions with China that spill over. Looking forward to reading 2054 when I finish my current series. If you change your mind of sci-fi I have lots of good recommendations, lol.
