    I hit a rock square on the cone of the LU at 35mph two summers ago, destroyed the LU and tuner, but the transom was fine.

    The new style is no worse on your transom than the old style. We really need an engineer to explain it correctly.

    Perhaps Rick Pierce (former owner and designer at Bass Cat Boats) can explain it clearer than I can.
    He recommends the transom saver style support.

    To show that its a moot point, can anyone ever think of a healthy transom that broke because of either style.
