    Another fuel question.

    Hello Don,
2019 ish Mercury Verado 400L (2B653635) with 150hrs on it. The engine is new to me and I just want to make sure I have this right about what fuel I need be using. The Manual says 91 but the lake I run on only has 90 Rec. Should I be looking to add an octane supplement, Is 93 to high?

    Thanks
    Robinr

You should NEVER run ANY fuel lower than the specified fuel in the engine owner's manual. There are no approved additives that substitute for using too LOW an octane fuel.

93 octane fuel would be acceptable, and absolutely preferable to 90.

Thanks Don.... I figured as well. I did see in the manual that 89 is acceptable but that performance could be impaired. I think I will just stick with the 93 and cart it in.
