E tec 250 hot alarm

Hi everyone,
When idling today my hot alarm sounded, beeping for maybe ten seconds, then stopped. Water pressure was good, no clogged intake.
Any idea why this alarm would go off? It has happened before, only when idling.

We need your engine model number please. There were several changes so we need to start at the beginning.
other questions.
What was the water pressure? When was the last time the water pump was replaced? Same question on thermostats?
A printout of Evinrude diagnostics would be helpful to verify fault codes and actual temperatures.
