I think it's more like three miles but it's the closest to the lake.

America Best Inn was Closed the last time I was down there in Early October. the Youth Club stated at the BSA camp (as I did) but rest of adult's stayed in town & American was going to be one of them but was CLOSED

There are about 4 other places that Are nice there Melvin......there jsut a slightly longer drive.

They could have jsut been doing renovations but all the lights were off & there was CRAP in the parking lot when I drove by there.

They stayed at the Comfort Inn on south HWY 71 loop.....there are 3 Hotels and plenty of food places to eat on the South loop there Melvin.....Applebees and Hy-vee jsut north of ther for Diner Buffet......otherwsie a coupl BBQ on strip as well as McD's and few other FF places as well
