    Plastic Recommendatio

What plastic would you recommend (brand and formula - soft, medium, or hard) for pouring lizards, brush hogs, beavers, and jig trailers? I have used a some but I really have not found plastic that I like as much as the plastic from Bears Baits. The plastic I have used tears really easy.

On the recommendation of 21XDC (thanks Mike!), I've had a lot of luck with the MF Easy Stretch. It holds up significantly better than other plastisols I've tried.

Easy Stretch is perfect for open hook applications like chatterbait or jig trailers. I don't like it for texas rig applications because it's a tougher plastic. I prefer bait plastics medium for anything that will be texas rigged.

I've not had issues with it, though admittedly I have gone almost completely to straight shanks in my Texas rigging applications after getting burned by Z-man baits balling up on EWGs. I bet that has something to do with it.

To be fair, I've been running Owner "Open Gap Twistlocks" (essentially an EWG shape with a 30 degree bend/twistlock combo instead of an offset) on my C-rig baits for a couple years now and noticed no difference in hook-up/landing rate with the Easy Stretch baits versus traditional.

No differences in bites that I've been able to notice, either.

I prefer BaitPlastics as I find it is more user friendly. With that being said, I got a 1/2 price deal on 55 gallons of Calhouns so that is what I am currently using. I do find the Calhouns suspends glitter better and is a little thinner than BP. Another thing I noticed is BP glitter, or at least the blue did, will bleed in Calhouns plastic. The lure works glitter seems do hold up fine in it though. I use medium for all our freshwater baits and the BP 262 for saltwater.

I have no need for any other plastic than Easy Stretch.

Found a local shop that was going out of business. Figured I would give it a try for that price and I wont have to buy any plastisol for a while.

    I got 55 gals
    1 8 cavity mold
    2 6 cavity molds
    Big air vise
    for right at $1K

    I think I did ok.

The only thing I do no not like about Easy Stretch is that it sinks. So, for Ned or anything you want to stand up more on the bottom you will need a floating one too. I really like the softer version of Easy Stretch, now they only have the Medium Firm, but I picked up the softener for it too. Great plastic.

Try some M-F "Bounce" Super Float if you can.

The bounce and the easy stretch were the first two plastics I tried. Currently using easy stretch and BP 242.

No one mentioned Do-It molds plastisol, just trying to learn about plastisol.

MF Super Soft. Add hardener for a stiffer more durable bait.
