    2022 Caracal with 200hp

Is the 200 Pro XS 4S enough for the Caracal? I see one for sale but don't know about the 200 vs 225

I have a 2021 with the 225 Mercury. No way on the 200 unless it is a killer deal. The Caracal is a wide heavy ride and needs all those horses.

If the main fuel tank in under the seats, then it would be fine. With rear tanks, I would pass.

That’s more than likely a MLF boat if it has a 200 on it. Probably is a good deal they usually are.

It is an MLF and I like it except I haven't seen any others with 200HP. I don't care about top end just hole shot and mid range. I was wondering if the 4S 200 would be OK?

Another consideration resale after you purchase it. Again it would have to be a killer deal.

Yes I agree on the resale, however I am getting ready to retire and don't plan to sell. I don' t care much about Top End but would like to hear from anyone that has a Caracal with a 200.

If you don't care about top end then I suggest propping the 200hp for hole shot. The boat would still be a low 60 mph boat.

Anyone have owned a Caracal with a 200 or fished from one?

Never seen one with a 200, but there are other brand boats as heavy or heavier in the 19’ class that run upper 60’s mph with a 200. Go take the boat in question for a spin. Pack light, and it’ll probably suit your needs no problem. I’d take a Caracal with a 200 & no hotfoot at money saver price without flinching. Same for an Eyra.

Thanks for the reply, it is an MLF boat and I think the 200 would be fine but want to be sure. I have a Ranger Z519 with a 225 Pro XW 2S now and I think the 200 4S might be more powerful than what I have now. If it would be a solid 65 mph with normal fishing load I would be happy. I seldom run faster than 45-5p amymore.

Empty the MLF boats ran between 67~72 MPH. It’s fine if you don’t want to go fast and you can go to a 22 Fury and run good for average loads. The MLF setup is not that fast due to the loads they run. They have lots of batteries, gear, equipment and 3 people in them.

No underpowered, hard pass on that. Needs the 225 for sure. Also the 200 4 stroke is most certainly not more powerful than a 225 pro XS Optimax.

I’d listen to BCB and not the rest. If you’re getting a good deal and get it propped to have a satisfactory hole shot and you don’t really care about top speed, go for it

Thanks for all the reply's I will look at the boat more next week. The 4S that I have been in are more powerful hole shot and mid range but not top end.

It says a lot about hull design and efficiency when a hull can be underpowered by 10% and still be speed competitive with most every other brand with max rated power. Amazing.

I've got one of those MLF Caracals w/ a 200. It'll run 65 with my fat butt, 50 gals of fuel and a full tourny load. Hole shot is great, top end is what it is - all depends on your style of fishing.
