Pretty sure asteroid strikes and volcanic eruptions at a minimum did in fact create change at a much higher rate than we are seeing now.
This isn't an absolute correct or not correct deal. It's all relative. We can see that it has changed faster than ever since our industrial age really took off. This has caused different weather patterns in a lot of places.
Two things happening at roughly the same time does not mean one caused the other. I don’t have a dog in the global warming fight, but I did study logic once upon a time.
