can I get some recccomenations For an A-rig Rod

I guess I am late to the party but I want to learn the A-rig and have been told the rod selection is key.
Today I used a 7'1" rod from my locker and it was a lot of work throwing that bait.

Dobyn's Champion 7'6" 4.5 power. At Clear Lake you should be using the smallest A-Rig you can find with 3.2"-3.8" swimbaits to imitate the silversides. I get the one with 5 wires and silver blades, put hooks on the 3 bottom wires and teasers on the top 2. Bottom heads can be 1/4 oz, middle can be 3/8 oz. Bend the wires out only enough to keep the baits from tangling. Watch silversides, they swim in tight formation. Chuck it out, count it down a bit and start reeling. Have done well around State Park and Library Park.

A great budget A-rig rod is Dobyns Fury 806. I actually caught quite a few on this set up today.

I throw mine on a custom F5. He makes a "ghost code" swimbait rod that is more budget friendly.

    Good luck with your search.

Dobyns 795sb, or a Powell 795. Just my $.02. I use the Powell.

I'll say again that Cara Amistad serves this purpose well and a lot of other presentations.....frogs, C-rig, big jigs, big worms, etc.

Thank you for the recommendation. Been looking for a dedicated swimbait/A-rig rod. Just ordered this one. Very affordable, especially with the 20% off promo Tackle Warehouse is running.

Helpful hint whichever rod you choose. Learn to launch that bait instead of a typical cast. Once I learned how to do that not only was it easier but I found I didn’t need a heavier rod and opted for 7’6” or 7’9” MH rods. You’ll know the sweet spot when there’s pull or jerk in the cast just one smooth motion. By the way opt for a 200 Series reel (which holds ton of line) so you can really bomb that bait when you need it. Good Luck.

Powell Endurance 795 is my preferred rod, I also use an old Lew's Super Duty 4 for heavier rigs in deep water (mainly when Striped bass get on deep humps around here).

I use a Shimano Slx 7'10 heavy. Got a lot of bass and some pretty good stripers on it. Nice rod for the money I think.
