House on goose bay for memorial day.

We are visiting St. Lawrence for memorial day weekend this year. We have a house on goose bay. Was just wondering if someone could answer few questions. Was wondering how busy it gets over that holiday? Can anyone give general idea of the fishing that time of year? Thanks for any info. Will be bringing bass boat with us.

Bass season is still closed on Memorial Day in Jefferson and St Lawrence counties which includes catch and release. You obviously can fish for everything else. A lot of cottages opening that weekend so pleasure boat traffic will be up a bit but not terrible. Not much in water sport activity, water is still pretty cold in May.

Like jerzia said, it’s illegal to fish for bass in St Lawrence and Jefferson county before June 15th. That also goes for Franklin and Hamilton county too. That said, the pike and walleye season will be open then, you just can’t specifically target bass. The DEC is very active with enforcing the bass season and they don’t buy the BS line of “I’m just pike (or walleye) fishing”. If they’re approaching you, they’ve already been watching for quite some time and know full well when someone is targeting bass. If you mainly wanted to fish for bass, you could tow the boat down to Sandy Pond and fish Lake Ontario down towards Oswego.

Memorial Day is usually one of the busier times since it’s the weekend most people are taking their boats out for the first time. Still manageable though, but definitely won’t be quiet. You may just not see too many people waterskiing or tubing. the water will be significantly colder than elsewhere. I usually fish a southern Lake Ontario bay on Victoria day weekend (week before Memorial Day). Water temp can be anywhere from 10-15deg colder than smaller inland lakes.
