Can you fish in Ashokan Reservoir with big motor? Is that a permit only reservoir?

Part 1: No, you can’t house a gas powered motor on any NYC reservoir, and I don’t think you can even use a boat that has a gas powered motor on the lake regardless if you don’t even turn it on.

Part 2: yes. Permit only, permits are provided by the NYC DEP

You need a reservoir permit to fish. The boat must be registered and moored at the reservoir its registered to. NO GAS OR ELECTRIC! Row baby row!

There is no same day access by boat and the process to get one to stay there is a process. You are better finding someone who already has one and borrow it. I think yearly they auction off abandoned boats and spots.
