I think boaters right/ say outweighs non-boaters on a subject like this.

Questions for the not in my boat crowd
    Do you tourney fish?
Are you just saying a stranger in your boat can't bring one?
What if your fishing buddy had a portable and just fun fishing can he bring it?

Just asking because I have one and the buddy I fish with brings his portable in my boat all the time. it's really no big deal.

In BFLs and Toyotas, I don’t think a boater has the final say in what the coangler can and can’t bring.

I don’t care but he would have to sign a disclaimer that I am not responsible if it ends up going overboard. I have had non boaters in tournament that tried to blame because their 30 drawer tackle box went overboard.

Sure he does. He can refuse to go out. It is the boaters boat so he is final authority on everything dealing with his boat!

Was the trolling motor down or did you not make sure the co's stuff was secure before taking off? No different from making sure stuff in the bed of a truck or on a trailer is secure before taking of especially if someone else sets it back there.

Only problem I had with it was strapping that sucker to the rod straps. That would be a no go, you can cuddle with that thing on a bumpy ass ride

As for the OP-as long as it's not too awkward, illegal, or a safety hazard I don't care what the back boater does. I do my thing forward of the console and they do theirs behind that line.

you’re correct. It’s his boat. If he wants to throw a hissy fit then so be it, he forfeits his money and he can take his ball and go home. The coangler gets 20points and I believe his entry fee may be refunded or used for the next event. Also if the boater begrudgingly agrees for the co to bring it, and makes his day miserable, the coangler had every right to not sign the weigh in and protest the boater.

As a coangler, I personally would never consider bringing a unit. And I would never bring something like that without first asking. but it’s within the rules of a coanglers to bring their own.

Everything you said is correct. Just stating boater has final say on the matter.
