    Cx 18 jackplate adjustment

    adjustment

Hey guys, I’m trying to get a little move speed out of my boat by raising the manual jackplate, I’ve raised it about 1” and water pressure, speed and rpm’s haven’t changed any. Should I keep raising? I’ve never messed with a jackplate before.

the boat is a Caymas cx 18 with a 150 pro xs and 23p tempest prop. Tuning 5800 and 51 mph. This is with two people, tackle and 1/2 tank of gas.

Im going to measure my prop to pad today.

You can continue to raise (or lower) to see if performance will increase. Once you start losing speed/pressure you are out of the optimal position and should revert back to the level of best performance.

The last time I did this with a manual jackplate I left my truck/trailer in the water so I could just pull it out, adjust, launch again and test. If you have a ramp that will allow you to do so (not busy). Take a couple of buddies with you. One in the boat for the test and in in the truck to pull you out and put you back in. Shouldn't take too long to get it dialed in.
