    Anybody Have One of These?

A gal at work is selling a 1986 E250 Ford Falcon Campervan. It has 71k miles on it. The engine is a 351 Windsor. Her father-in-law is getting on in years and never uses it. She wants 3k. I'll test drive it next Saturday. This pic is of a similar one, not the actual vehicle that I might be buying. Curious if there are any of these still out there, as there is not much info online. I thought it might be fun to slide my kayak inside and go on solo weekends with just me and the dog.

Most of the older van type campers like those were conversion kits from the manufacturer. Ford for example on this one.
For the most part the driver train will be pretty basic as far as Ford parts.
The camper parts however can be a mess some times if there are problems.
If its in good shape it might be worth it. Just depends on the person.
Windsor is a pretty strong motor and lots of stuff out there for them.

Thanks! I'm test driving it this Saturday. I did find some info on how no 2 are exactly alike since the camper stuff was all hand built. I don't really care too much about the plumbing or the toilet anyhow. Just something to sleep in with a reliable drive train will do. I do hope the roof-top ac and the generator work tho. I'll post if I buy it.

Good Luck Roy.....back in 1978 I had a F-100 ford pickup that had the Windsor engine, and it was a beast but of course the camper is heaver but that motor will handle it with no problem.

Stay out of the mall parking garage. You must observe clearance signs now.

Thanks guys. I'll get pics up soon. I was stunned when I drove it and felt how tight the steering still is. I've got most of it figured out, but haven't found where the propane hooks up.

I knew a guy once that found his propane by using a match. He was a great guy.

Haha good one guys. Actually I think I've decided I don't need the propane. It has a microwave and the fridge is propane OR 12 volts. I can't imagine trying to fry something in that little space so not worried about the 2 burner stove. I think with a generator I'll be good to go.

Finally got the new plates on and took some pics. My 12 ft yak slides right into the back over the toilet! Took her for my first drive around the neighborhood today and she drives great. I'm stoked about some yak adventures this spring. Still can't believe I got this for 3k. Even the rooftop ac still works! (sorry tried to edit one photo and forgot how to do it)

Thanks. Tomorrow I take her for her first long ride to a friend's ranch. I built a seat riser for the yak and I'm gonna try it out on their stock pond to make sure it doesn't flip over.

Thanks guys. I found the propane tank. Its on the passenger side tucked up behind the running board. The only place I hadn't looked. Looks like a 20 pounder. Also, the seat on my yak was too high and I rolled it. I guess its time to see how well the pontoon boat packs into the bathroom!
