    Garmin 106SV chassis ground screw

I just got the unit & used it last weekend. I get terrible interference when using the trolling motor. It says to hook this to a water ground. I don't have an outboard on my boat (electric only lake) so no starting battery to connect to. Would taking a wire to the trolling motor shaft work? Any other ideas? Don't know if it would help the issue. But thought it was worth a try.

    Thanks,
    Darrall

I'd run it to the TM Skag. We used to do that yrs ago to eliminate the interference.

The new TM’s are already grounded with a fuse in head. Older units did not and require a ground wire

Maybe don't run it off the TM battery.

Just didn't know if it really needed to go to the skag since the shaft is connected to it.

Do you have a Motorguide? Mine had terrible interference no issues with my Fortrex or Ultrex though.

Not sure what model MG you have but i had an older MG (metal shaft) on my skeeter with interference......what i did was connect a wire to the negative in the head and then used a flat blade terminal and stuck it between head and shaft....that clear up my interference......maybe you can do something similar......hopefully this will help out.......

So you are running your 93sv off of your 36v deep cycle trolling motor battery? Get a seperate 12v for the 93sv or at least try that to see if it helps.

    No, separate battery for electronics.
