    1999 Evinrude Ficht 115 - Running problem

    Started this "new" ficht, and experienced running problems. It sounds choppy, and it seems like one cylinder is not firing at all.

    Active fault code when running is: "Ignition Primary Circuit #1 OPEN"

    It has thrown the other circuits too, but only a few times.

    Any ideas?
    Proper procedure for fault finding in this ignition area?

    Ive read that the EMM is a possible culprit. However, i would like to also exhaust other possibilities before I go fown that path.
    The only permanent fault is the #1 cylinder.

    Is it possible to get a used EMM, and just switch over?

    You would need the diagnostic software and perform an EMM recovery to transfer the data. There is a repair shop somewhere in Europe.

    Well, i discovered that one of the coils had a bad ground connection (loose bolt). All misfiring ended when i tightened it. (phew)
    It now runs ok in idle, but i have a new symptom;
    Surging. It goes up to 2-2500 rpm after start. When i manipulate the throttle back and forth before starting i dont get this surging. any ideas?

    Wouldn't that vent stuck open in the fuel pump cause the same symptoms? Or does that motor have one of those fuel pumps?

    Yes but TPS is quicker to check.
