2023 PHX 21 Starboard Fuse Box

    Hey there,

To accommodate my increased electronic needs, I am running two 12V lithium ionic 150AH batts in parallel. This powers the whole boat, PLUS the starboard fuse panel for my electronics.

That starboard fuse panel, wired at Phoenix, originally fed 3 Solix 12s and 1 Garmin 126SV + LS 34. It now feeds a 4th Solix 12, plus 360, totaling:

    Solix 12
    Solix 12
    Solix 12
    Solix 12
    H Bird 360
    Garmin 126 SV
    LVS 34 Blackbox

As you know, that starboard fuse panel is integrated into the boat's main power / on off system. No interference issues, but I'm getting some voltage loss (and I can't quite substantiate exactly what gauge/wiring the factory has feeding the starboard fuse panel). My graphs generally read 12.2-12.5 voltage on the units' display. I was advised I should be in the 12.9-12.1 range with my parallel set up.

I'm considering re-wiring, and bi-passing the starboard fuse panel entirely, with a dedicated fuse panel; 8 gauge straight from the parallel set-up. Overkill? Necessary?

I know I'm not the only psycho PHX owner running all this gear, so I'd appreciate any feedback from people with similar set-ups.

    Thanks as always folks!

If you have the integrated wiring harness. It’s 2 ga to the panel. Then 10 gauge to each unit. Should be more than enough. Next would be a honda generator in the rod box. Haha!

I installed the Mercury battery terminal plate kit with the snap on covers so I had enough terminal room to make full length home run shots for both power and ground to every graph, sonar accessory, and my Garmin GLS10. I used marine grade 10awg and inline labeled fuses for all of them.

It might be overkill but I have zero interference and my images are fantastic. I have two Helix 12s, a Helix 15, Garmin 122sv with GLS10, Mega 360, and Livefoot. This is the fourth boat that I have rigged myself and I wouldn’t do it any other way at this point.

MFD's are notorious for a bad reading. Best thing to do is check voltage at the battery. Then check the leads to your MFD"s. They should be within a few 10th's. Then check the reading on the MFD's.

I run 2 solix 10's, 1 solix 12, 1 garmin 126, LVS 34 and Mega 360 off the fuse box in my '23 phx and it has been doing fine.

Thx man. Curious- what do your units show for voltage supply?

This wont make a lot of sense, but the garmin I installed shows 12.7 V all day. The birds that were on my boat when i bought it show .5 V less than the garmin.... Might redo the birds power extensions but I dont have an issue with clarity on them.

I’m on my 2nd Phoenix with the integrated wiring harness. I can definitely tell you this. It is not 2gauge. From the main power switch in the bilge it was a mix of 10, 12 and 14 with far too many splices. In both boats I disconnected the wiring harness from the fuse panel in the starboard rod box. Did away with the relay from the power switch at the console. After taking into account my power draw for the electronics on my boat I ran 8 gauge from my battery to a 30 amp breaker, to a main power switch, to the fuse panel. Then 12 gauge to each unit individually. The 8 is a round cable which is twisted. I have a 50ah and a 125ah in parallel. Both Ionics. Voltage at the batteries is 13.4. Voltage at each unit’s connector is 13.2

Bypass the integrated wiring. It’s not 2 gauge and it’s not 10 gauge to each graph. I’m running 10 gauge to each graph direct from battery. Same with my Garmin box.
