Fishing trip to Lake Murray with my son

My son and I are planning our first fishing trip to Lake Murray at the end of April. I was hoping someone could DM me with information on a few questions I have.

Full disclaimer, we are fun-fishing - not tournament fishing, and we will be releasing all fish that we catch. Our target species is Bass.

We will be renting a house on the water in Leesville

    Questions:
    1. What are some good on-the-water restaurants?

    2. What are the navigational hazards we should be aware of?

    3. Should we target the north end or south end of lake…if it even matters.

    4. What are some techniques that should be productive at that time?

    5. Never fished a blueback lake - any info or tips for this?

    Wishin' I was fishin'...

    It was pretty good...

We arrived on Saturday, 4/20 around noon - dropped the boat in a ran around for a few hours just to try to get familiar with the lake. Was surprised at how busy it was, especially with pleasure boaters....it was like a bathtub lol.

Rain moved in all day on Sunday - and then Monday was post-frontal conditions and cold, which led to a tough day from a fishing perspective. Tuesday we starting finding them on beds with the warmer weather, so we targeted spawning fish the rest of the week - which made it really fun.

Never caught anything big, but definitely had a good time figuring the bite out.
