    Tightrope Baby Jigs for Smallmouth?

I came across Tightrope Jigs in Chicago, and am wondering if anyone has experience with them for smallmouth in very clear water? They’re a ball head small jig in 1/8 and 1/4 oz sizes. They look well made and have all the colors one would look for to fish clear water. Anyone have success with these or recommendations? The only jigs I’ve thrown much in this situation have been football and hair. Thanks!

I make my own as well using a Gammy 26R jighead. I'm going to try a few others this year in tungsten, Reins makes one. Deps came out with a new lead one also.

    They work.

You can do the same skirt cut on a Keitech tungsten football head too.

Thanks very much guys! I appreciate it. When you guys make your own, are you using silicone or rubber or hair for the skirts?

I use both and sometimes a mix of both. I tie a similar skirt on ned heads to give them some bulk and sink slower also

Thanks very much! I’ve only recently started making my own jigs and am trying to get my arms around all of the options.

I also make my own. I use Bio-Silk type silicone. It has a mat finish that I like and that the smallmouth also seem to like. Cut the front strands short so they look like little legs that move when I crawl the jig.

I have no experience with those jigs. The jigs that have been working best for me on smallmouth is the Jewell Pee Wee jig. I bought some, they worked great so now I am making my own.

Those look awesome, Basshunter! I've spent a lot of time tying flies and jigs in the past, I'm willing to bet you make achieving that look waaay easier to accomplish than it is in actuality!
