Johnson Fast Strike Swap

I have a 1992 Johnson 150 J150GLENC on my boat currently. Thinking about repowering at some point down the road if I can find a lower hour fast strike motor that is in good working condition. If I mounted a newer fast strike to my boat, can I use the same controls/gauges, or would I need different controls?

Worse case is you may need an adapter cable for the wiring harness. the wiring harness changed in 1996 to the MWS design from the big red plug.
