98 vindicator 225 hp 16 gauge wire directly to the ignition

Hi all so I have been redoing the wiring on my boat I purchased last year. I noticed there is one blue 16 gauge wire running directly from my out outboard to the ignition. Its a 98 triton sf 21. This wire is connected to the center pin, which from what I could tell online could be the primer. All the other pins are connected to the harness, the purple with white stripe is the disconnected line and its just hanging.

I am very much assuming this is not factory, and would like to hear any suggestions before I splice the wire back into the original harness. The only thing that makes me hesitant, is there has to be a reason it was done, and I saw on some other forums that this could possibly be the correct wiring.

Check the primer solenoid for the suspect blue wire, factory is purple/white for the primer solenoid. Here is the original ignition key setup.

ignition mws.png as you can see the primer solenoid is on the center post C.
