Not nearly as deadly a speed, but playing little league when I was about 12 years old I was a pitcher. Dude drills the pitch, line drive straight back over my head and I just instinctively stuck my glove up and caught it. No idea how I did that. Astonished me and everyone watching.

Best friend growing up never really recovered from hitting a pitcher in the head while playing in American Legion League between high school and college. He was a large man with amazing power hitting skills.

The pitcher never fully recovered from the brain damage and the batter took many years to get back to the game/life as well. He ended up playing at Wichita State but was a shell of his former self for a long time.

It’s a great game but everyone (even in the stands) needs to be ready to play defense.
