    Seats re-upholstered

    20240428_221741.jpg

I thought real hard on this. I didn't like the way the bench seat felt in this 2000 Pantera Classic I bought. My tournament partner said he felt like he was sliding around on the bench seat. There were cracks in the vinyl, so I either had to re-skin or get new seats. I was thinking of upgrading to bucket seats too. I decided to have a local upholstery guy try his hand at re-doing the seats I had. He added/converted the middle seat to a step and cup holders. He also added some bolsters to one side of each of the seats, next to the center step. Definitely comfortable now.

That’s nice work. The seats, at origin, were designed to serve you, partner and passengers beyond that. Seating up to a four person family was the purpose in a flatter bench style. Most Pantera Classic and Sabre models were not event anglers back then. Those would chase the Pantera II and on up through other models. Those seats lacked internal foam packages, in a Pantera II and Pantera III, that changed the density in areas to create pockets in the seats. Later models went bucket seating styles with different foam kits.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The upholstery guy said the project ended up being way more difficult than he planned. I think I'm glad I stuck with modifying what came with the boat. The compartments and cooler all appear to seal correctly.
