Preventing Fishing Line from Wrapping Around Trolling Motor Prop

I saw this on a Facebook post and thought it looked pretty clever to me... Maybe unless it is cutting your line with a big fish on

Now there’s a mod from 1985, we did that on the jon boat trolling motor to get thru the grass in the farm ponds. Worked great!

Believe it or not, I have had a fish go right under my trolling motor, causing my line to tangle up. I was surprised that I managed to stop the prop before snapping or cutting the line, and it was still on the hook when I pulled the trolling motor up.

Been there, done that... why I always wear my Minn Kota mini remote around my neck to quickly cut off the prop.

Good point. I think there are stainless box cutter blades... but not sure about that.

I always have my Minn Kota remote clipped to my inflatable life vest (was hanging on my lanyard around my neck until I realized that it was causing a weird rash on my neck) because I find the foot control on my Terrova frustrating at times; fortunately, there is a plan to get a new trolling motor with better foot control operation (and remote).

That blade will work on light grass or weeds however if you hit hard object like a branch it will break. Don't ask me how I know.

If I'm fishing a drop shot deep, the last thing I'd want to do is cut off 30ft of nice braid
