Thumbs Up Jackplate on Triton tR17

Looking to install jackplate on Triton TR17 For reasons not related to top speed.
I have too much motor in the water imo, cone 4-5 inches below hull skeg bumps stuff I can't even see, and trimming my motor at angle to water to get max RPM from motor isnt right. ANY THOUGHT ON THIS?

I have the exact same issue 5 1/4 in prop to pad, and plan to install a jack plate also.

I didn't realize jack plate made that big of a difference. I have the triton 18x2 with a 6 inch jack plate and I run 2 3/4 prop to pad.

Those types are a seriuos PITA to adjust. Get a Vance 6" plate.

The one pictured looks like their older 5" plate. The newer 6" is a single screw adjustment.

It's new but it's a two piece plate. I'd invest another $50 and get the 4500 model.

I have the same boat 99 TR17 running the same prop on a 115 merc with no jackplate can only get 45mph gps in cold water and 42-43 in the summer. Once I get the jackplate on I plan to raise it up to a starting point of 3 1/2 in prop to pad and go from there.
