    Salmon jigging

I don't know if anybody here jigs salmon in the fall, but a run showed up in the Muskegon channel already. I took my daughter bass fishing Sunday morning and I was surprised to see 20 or so boats jigging just inside the channel into Muskegon Lake. We saw one about 15-18lbs caught. It's early so I doubt that they stick around long, but it's very close to go time.

It's a blast. And a bass boat and a MH bass set up works perfect. I use my frog rod. The hardest part is being there when the fish are there.

I was up in Manistee this week salmon fishing, but we only troll. The guy in the campsite next to us was a jigger. He said that the harbor and the lake were stacked with fish (using Livescope), but they would not bite. He only caught one in a few days. The fish are going to start moving into the rivers soon, so the bite should only get better for another week or two. The bite on the big lake was excellent this week. We caught a lot of fish, and lost a lot of fish too.
