USA Questions about upgrades on a 1999 MFI Soft Ride Triton Trailer Dual Axle

Hey Yall, Ive got a 99 triton tr-21 sittin on a 98 or 99 mfi soft ride dual axle trailer. I've read a decent amount of stuff on this trailer and it looks like they can have some problems. Ive already put goodyear endurances on it as well as redone the bearings. The trailer squeaks really bad but no mechanical failures or anything yet. I think I'm going to purchase the dexter equalizer that was posted on some older threads about similar trailers. Also gonna do the bunks and boards. Anything else I need to go ahead and replace? Leaf springs look to be in decent shape a little rust on em. Which leaf springs does this trailer need? Also brakes seem to be working fine and have had some work done on them at some point. In General the trailer is not rusted much at all and seems to be structurally sound. I tow a lot, and am planning on a 8 hour trip to arkansas from georgia soon and need to make sure everything is legit. Any info on this trailer and recommended upgrades is very appreciated. Do not want to go the new trailer route unless I absolutely have to because I will probably sell this boat in 2 years after college and the price of new trailers seem to be unbelievably high. Just need for it to be reliable and solid as I do go all over the south for college tournaments.

If the squeaking is your main concern, I’d recommend the Dexter Wet Bolt Kit. The bushings are more than likely shot on your trailer. Only changing the equalizer will more than likely not solve your noise. I installed the kit and my trailer is extremely quiet now. There are different kits, so measuring your equalizer will point you in the right direction as to which kit fits.

That kit has everything you need. My only advice is to make sure that equalizer matches the dimensions of your correct equalizer. My triton trailer has flat equalizers so a the equalizer in a kit like this wouldn’t work on mine.

Shackle length is another dimension to be aware of. In their FAQ, they answer about any questions you may have. I went a little longer on the shackle length, as my length they did not offer. If I remember correctly, I went with the MoRyde wet bolts, and maybe 3 1/4” shackles, then a greasable equalizer. I helped a buddy install the kit you posted as well, and it went on smoothly, honestly better than mine.

All or most of that squeaking is in the shackle bolts and bushings. I'd even bet that the bolts are worn down and the bushings wallowed out !! Replace the bushings with the ABS Bushings and the bolts with a wet bolt that you can grease. Might as well replace the equalizers too !!!
