    196 with a 175?

Buddy blew his 200 EFI, doesn’t have the funds or desire to put $20k into the boat. He can get a decent deal on new (demo) 175 Merc V6. I know it’s a long shot, but figured I’d ask anyways. Anyone happen to be running something similar?

I would find a nice used 200 for 10K or less to put on it, or rebuild the EFI he has.

He already had it rebuilt once and wasted $6k, the shop doesn’t know why it blew either time. He’s in west Texas with very limited options, he’s only interested in a new motor.

Those EFI motors are very reliable and run for a long time, if he is doing something that blew two of them then he will do the same to a newer motor, they are way more sensitive to abuse and lack of maintenance than the old EFI motors are.

Figure about 10 or so MPH slower.
