    Chip in side top rail

I was wiping the boat down today and found what looks like a rock may have hit the side of my top cap. I have 2 small chips about the size of a pea but look like they are down to the flake but it’s hard to tell. Should I bite the bullet and pay someone or is this manageable for a novice? It’s on top of green and silver area.

May have been caused by sinkers hitting top cap when flipping or heavy c-rig. Be careful when fishing with those.

I’d say give it a shot yourself! I’ve had some luck fixing small chips like that on my boat. Just grab some matching touch-up paint, clean the area really well, and apply it carefully. I did this once on a similar spot, and it turned out pretty decent. Just remember to seal it after to protect it from the elements. If it doesn’t look right, you can always take it to a pro later, but trying it yourself is definitely worth it!

I usually try to batch these up, things happen. one small spot ill leave it till I get more issues. Currently have a small air void on on trailer fender. I just scraped a some gelcoat on the pad off. like a 1/4 in x 1 inch wide spot.
