Best lake area to live in SC?

She's well worth it! She's put up with me for well over 40 years and that is no small task. Austin isn't what it used to be. Extremely overcrowded. Terrible traffic, water and electricity shortages. The surrounding towns are all getting the same way now. The one good thing is that the Longhorns are finally winning again...
At my age, I probably put more emphasis on convenience and decent fishing over the quest for double digits. If we find a good area to live, easy drives to lakes, with nice housing, friendly people and good medical access, etc. I should be fine.

I get it bro. happy wife happy life. I was more joking than anything. Good luck on you search buddy. The Lyman/Inman/Campabello area where I stay has been what you are describing you are looking for. The housing is coming to this area tho there is new subdivisions popping up everyday.

If I never had go get on I-85 between GVL and the NC line it would be too soon. Violent crime is like 15.2 per 1,000. But there are folks that like the area.

It's been horrible for 10 years now. Went to Charlotte to spend Thanksgiving with dad, and northbound it's better than it has been in a long time. Southbound is still a train wreck. Most of the trips I've made in the recent past, I go up 14 to Landrum, hop on 26W to 74E and go thru Kings Mtn. Hwy 74 is a dream.
