Thanks for the review and pics. When not using the FFS, what sonar abilities does the unit have? As a reference point....how would it compare to a Lowrance HDS Live with 3 in 1 transducer?

It has everything except for side imaging.

The Eagle is not on par with the HDS units as far as being able to customize your screens. If you have a split screen, only one of those screens will have data on them. Where as on my HDS Gen 2 Touch for example. I can have data on every screen if I so choose. The Eagle has fewer color palette choices than my Gen 2 Touch. But some are different, and I like the ones on the Eagle better. Also, and I don't know if this is something I just have figured out how to do yet, and I have tried numerous way, but as far as I know, you can't switch the frequency on the down imaging, like you can on the HDS's. I'm not really sure what frequency the down imaging on the Eagle operates at, but I think the down imaging works better on my Gen 2 touch.

And as has been said, the Eagle Eye does not have side scan. From what I've read on Lowrance's web site. The Eagle Eye is not compatible with any of the other Eagle transducers. So you can't plug a triple shot into the Eagle Eye, and have side scan. One thing I really love about the Eagle Eye aside from the FFS, is how well you can see the screen from pretty much any angle, and with polarized sun glasses. My older LMS as well as my Gen 2 can get blacked out at different angles when looking through polarized sun glasses.

The Eagle Eye, and I assume the regular Eagle's, are good basic units. From what I've read in various reviews, they're compared to the Hook Reveal, but with a better screen. The Eagle Eye while not as easy to operate as my Gen 2 Touch, or any touch screen unit, is very easy to operate. Not a lot of buttons and they are very easy to use to navigate through the various menus for each screen.

As for myself, I only use mine for the forward facing live sonar. And I love it !!!
