Lots of surface area compared to a smaller 5" or 7" screen - even though the small ones look better.lol

Yes the 9 uses a compact(cSI) the 10 & 12 use HDSI's, you're golden on the mounted hardware, except I too agree that you should swap all of it out......

Robert why should I swap out the transducers they were bought new this spring and only used a few times I have 2 hdsi transducers one for left si and one for right si and a 920 t for high speed sonar I really do not want to Change them out they were only used about 15 times since the install.

Transducers do "age", but if there is that little time on them, I wouldn't bother changing them out.

Looks like the AS EC QDE adapter cable is still needed? I wish they would have kept the collector like the one on the 998 with screws. I believe it would be easier on the connector pins. The snap in collector like on the 1198 is a pain sometimes to connect and remove with the tabs...LOL

2 more questions. Are there any pics of what the basic mapping looks like on the new units? Also, what's the best transducer for SI/DI ? The hdsi?

Well If Helix, and Onix don't talk, then I would thing you could isolate the thru hull TD to the Helix, mount it to dash, and run high speed DI, and mapping from it, and everything else from the Onix system. Instead of Onix 10, Onix 8, Onix 10, it could be Onix 10, Helix 10, Onix 10Christmas is looking brighter all the time

I see on the Humminbird website the autochart has 8 hours of recording time. I can record 8 hours quickly trolling for walleye on Lake Erie. Can you save it to a zero lines card? Will they make a zero lines card for the micro slot or do the new models have regular card slots?

Troy, being an authorized dealer can you find out when they hit the stores?

What they need now is a buttonless touchscreen version
Buttonless touch screens must not be the "thing". Even Lowrance went to cross-touch with their Gen3 models --copied the cross-touch ONIX.

All touch was great until it wasn't.

Sometimes we have "emperor's new clothes" and touch was certainly that. Haven't tried Lowrance touch and maybe it is great, but I cannot say Onix is. HB buttons for me.

I think the hybrid is the way to go. Simrad was one of the first that had buttons, touch and the wheel/joystick. Then the Onix came out and Lowrance went to hybrid also. The Garmin has it, you just have to buy the separate GRID accessory. I use touch 99% of the time, but it's nice to have the buttons just in case. I really like the preset buttons. I really missed them when I had the Onix.

Diel, I agree totally, preset buttons gave you the screen you needed when you needed it.

With only one Micro SD slot month Helix, what's the best way to use that slot if you have a LakeMaster chip and need to record or save waypoints? Can you use the same chip or should I swap them out as needed?

The arrow was pointing to the AutoChart Live icon TR.
I think the only Wireless option for anything we may see for a while is just the BT Dongles.
    For mounting widths:

    The Helix 10 size specs:
    Unit Size - In dash Mount:13.44"W x 7.12"H x 3.99"D

    The 999 size specs:
    Unit Size - In dash Mount:10.75"W x 6"H x 2.5"D

    The 1199 size specs:
    Unit Size - In dash Mount:13.1"W x 8.8"H x 2.9"D

    ONIX 10ci SI size specs:
    Unit Size - In dash Mount:12.25"W x 8"H x 4"D

I have nothing else at this time, sorry folks.

Very good point Mr. Ro, the 1st touch Navico products had issues with not responding when very cold and until they warmed up internally they simply didn't respond. I read this from one of the hardcore anglers on WalleyeCentralDOTcom.

FWIW I like the new cable collectors Doug!
I don't have much of an issue with the 1199's collector and the reason the network interface is not threaded is cost savings which adds up on thousands of units.
Not everyone will network two or more, so it's a good compromise to maintain backward compatibility which, while not perfect - HB makes a good attempt at keeping the old & new working.
