My motor model number is e250dhlscs. Having an issue where the motor is really tough to start. Mechanic has tested all voltage and fuel flow and everything checks out OK. He wants to try a different EMM to see if that will solve the issue. He opened a case with BRP, but they seem to be out of helpful ideas. Does anyone have, or know someone who may have, a used EMM for this motor?
Can you provide us with a printout of the diagnostics report please. I have doubts of an EMM problem.
what has been checked on the exhaust back pressure fitting? Plugged, burned away?
what has been done to clean the injectors? Have they been sent out to Barnacle Bill marine service? If not then this is highly recommended. They are the best.

Thank you for a great response with knowledgeable questions. I will ask my mechanic on Monday. The injectors have not been sent for cleaning. He said they were all tested and checked out OK. I don’t know about the exhaust back pressure fitting or cone filter in the VST fuel return line. I will ask about them.
Injectors can test good electrically, but not for fuel flow.

Because of the nature of my issue, my mechanic has assured me the fuel injectors should be working OK. Does anyone know where I can find an EMM? Does anyone have one for a 2008 Etec?
“Should be working OK” isn’t the same as “Are working OK”…Personally, I’d listen to the experts on here.

I will check out the videos. My mechanic is a well-respected longtime Evinrude guy. I did have him check the cone filter and back pressure fitting. He says they are both fine. My motor has a hard time starting, but once it does, it runs great. No misses or sputtering. Since it runs fine once started, he thinks it’s a different issue than fuel delivery.
What do the other plugs look like? I’ve seen small chips in the reeds cause hard starting as well. How many hrs is on motor it the original starter?
