Possible spot on new Helix 9 screen?

IMG_3438.jpegI noticed a small spot on the side of my new Helix 9 screen. Not sure if this is a problem, or just a light sensor or similar that I just did not notice
    before.

update: verified as a flaw. Returned to Humminbird for repair or replacement.

This one made it through quality control!
    That is a delamination spot.
It's in the border, but that is not normal.

If it does not clean off with vinegar and water return or tell HB about it. Don’t start out with an imperfection even if it is not creating a problem now, don’t clean with anything stronger so they cant blame you for the issue. JMO Bob

    80% water, 20% vinegar.

Looks like on surface so should clean off. If not replace, or call HB.

Inconvenient, but you should not have to deal with that. I am sure things like that happen, but I can’t remember anyone having an obvious defect like that before. At least on this forum. Bob

I am not certain that it was there when it arrived, if so difficult to detect before shipment. In that case, all they can do to prevent this is to (hopefully) improve their processes so as to reduce the risk of this happening. My suspicion is that there was some contamination on the inside of the glass and as a result the black “paint” did not adhere well enough. I am not going to bitch over this, although I am a bit disappointed over the fact that UPS says it will take a week to get there (and I assume a week to make it back here) plus 3-5 days to turn it around. That is almost three weeks that I will lose of the end of the fishing season up here (in Michigan).

Nah, it's usually a week to 10 days.
    They are pretty quick.
