So what's new in stern lights these days...

PP light finally gave up the ghost... Decided not to replace it and just go back to the original stern light, but mine is kinda weak, thinking about picking up a new one.

Seems now I see a lot of folding stern light poles on Bass Live boats, but $150? Sheesh. There are also telescoping versions, as well as the plain old pole. I am suprised it seems most are still using normal bulbs, ie not LEDs?

I also use a Go Pro on a Yolotek pole, maybe I just switch over to their powered light pole and kill two birds...

Why not just buy a "plain old pole" and replace the bulb with a LED ?

I don't know - when I replaced some "normal" lights in my truck with LED's it required special bulbs and changing config in the truck's "system" or whatever, but I suppose that is an option. I was just suprised they aren't all LED at this point. I mean it's hard to even buy an incan buble these days lol...

I use this one in the 60” version. Very bright LED. Flexible pole so a tree branch won’t snap it off. The pole does flex a little running down the lake but not enough where I think it would compromise the visibility of the light.

It works well and adds some bling when wanted

I wound up buying a Yolotek Beacon, since I've got a Yolotek pole back there all the time already, I figured just put the beacon on it and never have to worry about swapping poles around in the morning. We'll see how it works out...

Me personally I would not sink a lot of money into one and just get a basic one that does the job as they are only used on a limited basis and taken off as soon as environment becomes bright enough.

Worked pretty good today. I like that I can just put in my yolotech and leave it - ie not having to start with light pole and then swap over to yolotek.

That being said, imo they should have put a switch on the light - to turn it off you unplug it from the usb port. I guess maybe a waterproof switch would have added too much cost. The usb cable is hardwired to the light - but I might splice one in.

I swapped out my incandescent bulbs in my light poles for LED equivalent, much brighter and added bonus LED doesn't seem to attract bugs.

Surprised nobody suggested this one. Its pretty awesome and red doesnt mess up your night vision. I run with just the white on the tip though.

I have looked into that one made by sea-clear before but to my knowledge there is not a way to install on boat with a threaded base. They sell a base that will work if you want to swap it out but it was a different screw hole pattern compared to what I had so I just decided against it.

I bought the RMP Power Pole light 2-3 years ago. It was right after tgey released the new version which is what I have. It's honestly one of the best purchases I've made for my boat. If it went out tommorrow I would probably buy another one as soon as I found one available. It's great not to fool with digging out the light pole etc. My RMP has been flawless.

Since I balked at a $150 pole, most probably figured I wouldn't want to spend $200 on one lol..

Those are cool and all, but the bling is overkill for my needs.

Yeah I looked at the RMR when I bought my PP light but they were having all those complaints about lights burning at the time out so I went with the Hydrila Gear, which is a very solid metal bracket light. I kinda mis-spoke in the OP, that light is still working find and has found a new home/owner, but I did pull it off my poles and switched to the yolotek setup, which is working great.

A friend of mine swapped out his bulbs with LED's. NOT a fan of them when I get blinded on the back deck of his boat. He asked how I liked his new bulbs and my response was "I can't see shit back here because my night vision isn't kicking in".
2023 Xpress H18 with 115 SHO that's optioned to fit my wants and pulled by a little Ram.
