    Tool for Minn Kota Prop

I've realized that I need to remove my prop and clean out weeds/line more often and I'd like to carry a dedicated tool for that on my boat. What are you using that may be simple and cheap for the 3/8 inch nut? I don't really want to buy a full ratchet set just for that and I'm not sure a box wrench would have the angle.

    Depending on model, it's either a 1/2" or 9/16.

    It shouldn’t be that tight.

Purchase one of the cone prop nuts....easy on and easy off. No tools involved.

Thanks everyone. Never knew the cone props come on/off that easily- sounds like the way to go.

The problem is, if you ever break the sheer pin, you will have a hard time getting that propeller off as the shaft will spin with the cone nut

Bobs has a hole to hold shaft with a flat head

The prop nut on my Fortrex is a 9/16", and I carry a cheap socket and compact 3/8" drive ratchet just in case the back boater's line is caught in the prop. I also carry extra prop pins and prop nut, in case they are damaged or fall into the water.

Cheap little “T” handle driver will work. With or without a big screw off nut you will want to carry a spare prop nut and pin or 2 to keep in the boat. Stuff finds a way of getting to the water in the pointy end of the boat while out on the lake. JMO Bob
