    1997 TR21 Passenger dash/glovebox

So my ole TR21 has what I'll call a blow molded glovebox inner area.

When I close the glove box the latch simply goes behind a little lip. Well over time, due to age, that lip is falling apart. So my glovebox doesn't stay shut the best.

What have you guys done to help with this? Sadly it appears to be the entire upper part of the passenger console.

Looked at my 2007’s glovebox today & it is very similar. I see 2 simple fixes you could consider.

1-Pop rivet a strip of 1/16” aluminum bar to the backside of the damaged lip & add a couple thin SS washers to the latch mechanism in order to extend the latch cam deeper into the glovebox so it can fit beyond that extra 1/16” aluminum strip.

2-Attach a footman loop to the inside of the glovebox shroud (secured with machine screws, washers and nylock nuts) passing from the exterior to interior of shroud (they will be hidden by the windshield) so that it is positioned where the latch mechanism (after extending it as described above) can go behind the footman loop.

Yeah that's similar to what I was thinking. I was hoping someone would have a cleaner way to do it than what I see happening... lol

Post a picture, maybe that will help us. I'm not sure yours is the same as my 07.

Sorry I haven't gotten a pic. Every time I've been around the boat I've been on the run.

    I'll get one today!

I know it's not a great picture, but anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

Have to same problem on my 1999 Tr-19 glove box! There is no replacement glove box that I can find, so let me know what you do to fix yours! I duck taped the whole inside arc part of the broken plastic pieces inside my box, so I can at least still open and close my glove box

From what I can tell that piece is the whole upper part of the dash and I haven't been able to find any replacement anywhere.
