    Proud Dad Moment

Big 18th birthday weekend for my boy this past weekend. Sunday evening, he had two high school hockey games. First game this kid kept hitting him late, jabbed his stick into my boy's ribs. Refs were turning a blind eye. My boy gave the kid a hip toss near the end of the game, he finally had enough. Kid came after him, he put him down promptly with a few good punches throw in there. The kid got back up and came at him again after the refs separated them, kid got put down again. 2 and 10 with one game suspension for my boy, totally worth it! I teased him, playing for 8 seasons to finally get ejected from a game. Other kids got a 2 and 10 plus 5 games.

Makes a Dad's heart happy to see his son taking care of his business defending himself.

Great for standing up to do the jobs that the refs wouldn't. Forgive my lack of hockey intelligence, but what does 2 and 10 mean?

2-minute minor penalty (roughing) and a 10-minute game misconduct for fighting. Refs have discretion on handing out suspensions.

Good for your son standing up for himself. A trait that seems to b lacking these days.

Hard not to be proud when your child stands up for themselves!

Years ago we had moved over the summer when our middle son was in 4th grade. For about 2 weeks the boy who sat behind him (known bully) had being pulling our sons hair, poking him, etc. One day our son stood up, said he’d had enough of it, and promptly punched the kid in the face.
Both boys received short suspensions, and the bully never picked on our son again. The night of the incident was Parent Teacher Night. The principal and many teachers said they wished our son didn’t have to be suspended but policy required it, and they were glad someone finally stood up to the bully.

Neither, this was high school, he is on the Peachtree Ridge/Parkview team. Not enough kids to make teams from one school so they are grouped together to make full teams.
